The incident took place last Friday in the Lower Saxony town of Salzgitter, reports Spiegel.
However, the incident gained fame only after the video was published by the youth organization of the neo-Nazi National Democratic Party of Germany.
After demonstrators began calling the vice-chancellor and the Social Democratic Party he leads “people's traitors,” Sigmar Gabriel gave the crowd his middle finger and smiled.
The party confirmed this incident, saying that the vice-chancellor was provoked by “the actions of deliberately aggressive neo-Nazis.”
Let us remember that a similar incident took place in Ukraine during the presidency of Viktor Yushchenko. Then the newly appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs Arseniy Yatsenyuk collided in his car on the road with the car of the deputy head of the Ukrainian traffic police, who showed Yatsenyuk the middle finger. Yatsenyuk was offended and got the traffic cop fired.
