Vice-Mayor of Belgrade to children of Kosovo: “This is your city, you are the masters here”
Fifty young athletes from the Serbian enclaves of Kosovo became guests of the multidisciplinary sports camp “Sport Stars” in Belgrade and visited the Old Palace of the Serbian Kings.
The children were received by the vice-mayor of the capital of Serbia, Goran Vesic, who assured them that Belgrade is their home, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Children from Kosovska Mitrovica, Zvecan, Zubin Potok, Leposavic, Strpce, Partes, Klokot, Gracanica and Novi Brdo took part in the Belgrade camp. Guests of the Serbian capital have proven themselves in various sports: tennis, football, volleyball, handball, basketball, arriving with their coaches on August 19. The young athletes plan to stay in Belgrade until August 29.
At the residence of the Serbian kings - the Old Palace, the children were given a tour and allowed to stand on the famous balcony, from which, according to a later tradition, Serbian winners of sports competitions address citizens.
“This is your home, your country, your city,” Goran Vesic told the young inhabitants of the Serbian enclaves of Kosovo. – Our enemies say the opposite, that this is not your capital, and Serbia is not your country, they are lying. Here the Serbs follow a common policy, they have the same inspiration and ideas. We all have one country, and we are all Serbs, and this is our flag, our country and our city, and you are the masters here.”
“Remember, you will never be alone,” added the vice-mayor and asked the children to defend Kosovo and Metohija in the same way as the country’s leaders do at the world level, and as the President of Serbia will soon fight for this in Washington (at an organized USA meeting with Kosovo separatists).
