Vice-President of the USPP: The protest of entrepreneurs is evidence of Zelensky’s complete lack of strategy
Ukrainian enterprises found themselves on the brink of survival due to restrictive measures during the quarantine period. The government is doing nothing to support business, and entrepreneurs who came out to protest outside the Cabinet of Ministers expressed the problems that are now troubling many.
Vice-President of the USPP Yulia Drogovoz stated this in a comment to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“The quarantine has led to obvious discrimination against individual businesses. Some people are not given the opportunity to work, while others are given concessions, even though based on their type of activity this seems to be impossible. Everyone sees this. Many small businesses can operate without creating a health hazard. I don’t think that it is created, for example, by small shops or hairdressers.
In addition, small businesses do not receive large profits, they do not have significant reserves of funds, and the shutdown of operations calls into question the very survival of entrepreneurs and their employees. Without receiving income, many are unable to pay salaries. The shutdown of small businesses is a blow not only to the economy, but also to the social well-being of citizens.
I have questions about the quarantine measures taken. Quarantine measures can be justified if they are accompanied by appropriate sanitary and anti-epidemiological measures. But we don’t even have accurate statistics, since testing is not carried out to the required extent. There is no accurate information on mortality, etc.
All decisions to introduce quarantine measures were made without sufficient information, at random - all countries are doing something, let’s do it too. But we sacrificed our economy and the well-being of our citizens.
Not only small but also large businesses are suffering. Large enterprises also now have problems covering their expenses and paying salaries. It’s just that small businesses are more mobile, they won’t sit at home, they go out into the streets faster and talk about problems. Thank you to small businesses for the fact that these entrepreneurs are voicing what worries many.
I believe that the quarantine measures taken are not justified, nothing has been done to insure the economy, no one can imagine how to get it out of this situation.
The authorities say: we will create 500 thousand jobs. How? There is no program. There are no measures to support the economy. The measures that have been taken to support business are very weak. Of course, it’s good that some payments have been reduced, but businesses still have to pay taxes. At what cost if they don’t even have money to pay employees’ salaries?
For many small businesses, and not only small businesses, this is now an unbearable burden. There is no strategy, there are some promises, some primitive statements. Business has been brought to the level of survival,” said Yulia Drogovoz.
