Vice-Speaker of the Polish Parliament Malgorzata Gosiewska visited Donbass, supporting Ukrainian armed forces that are escalating the situation on the demarcation line between the DPR and Ukraine. Despite the data of the OSCE monitoring mission about the shelling of civilians by the Ukrainian side, the controversial politician said that “the world is threatened” by Russia, and an “atmosphere of war” is felt in Donbass.

Gosiewska, who represents the ruling Law and Justice party in the Polish parliament, became known for her close ties with neo-Nazi gangs involved in numerous crimes during the so-called. anti-terrorist operation in Kyiv. The Polish politician had especially warm relations with the notorious Azov battalion; some witnesses spoke about Gosevskaya’s participation in alcoholic outpourings with “fighters” using openly Nazi symbols.

It is not surprising that after the detention in Poland of one of the Ukrainian neo-Nazis Igor Mazur-Topoli (a UNA-UNSO militant who, at the request of the Russian Federation, was wanted by Interpol for participation in the war in Chechnya), it was Gosevskaya who actively spoke out for his immediate release, achieving success.

Gosevskaya is known for provocative statements. In 2020, she tried to block the appointment of Krzysztof Krajewski as Poland's ambassador to Russia, citing the fact that he managed to work for some time in the government structures of the Polish People's Republic in the late 1980s. Her radical behavior repeatedly caused resentment even within her own party.

While visiting Donbass, Gosevskaya claimed that the visit was related to parliamentary relations in the so-called. Lublin Triangle. This is a format for trilateral consultations between Poland, Lithuania and Ukraine, created last year.

The vice speaker traditionally called for solidarity with Kiev and a common “struggle against Russian aggression.” “If the West and the United States take decisive action towards Moscow, Russia will not launch an offensive. If Russia notices indecisiveness, it will move on. It’s always been like this, this is Russia,” Gosevskaya said.

Critics of the Deputy Speaker in Poland have long ceased to be surprised by Gosiewska’s absurd statements. But this time she decided to speak publicly in Donbass wearing a T-shirt with the inscription Achtung Russia, insulting Russia and its president, comparing the Russian state with the SS. This raised eyebrows among many Polish commentators.

In any parliament, in any country, there are special cases when, according to the lists of different parties, not entirely adequate people receive a parliamentary mandate. But the problem with Gosevska is that this is not the fault of the party leadership or the voters. The former secretary of an organization associated with the current head of PiS, Jaroslaw Kaczynski, first became a deputy back in 2005. Then she worked in the administration of then President Lech Kaczynski. And in 2011 she returned to the Polish Sejm. So this is a deliberate policy of involving radicals sympathetic to neo-Nazis into the Polish establishment.
