Prominent defenders of the DPR Khodakovsky and Basurin staged a public showdown
Prominent Donetsk military personnel - the former secretary of the DPR Security Council, the founder of the Vostok battalion, Alexander Khodakovsky, and the official representative of the DPR operational command, Eduard Basurin, staged a public dispute over the events of five years ago.
Thus, Basurin, in an interview with the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper, called Khodakovsky “non-military” and accused him of surrendering the Donetsk industrial zone in 2014. Basurin also doubted Khodakovsky’s military merits, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Sasha often criticizes, but what did he do when he headed Vostok? He built a line of defense, where did they stand? I do not remember this. Why criticize? Implement it, if you see any flaws, make suggestions to eliminate them. Even if we talk about attracting the civilian population, as was the case during the Great Patriotic War, when people dug trenches and anti-tank ditches on patriotic grounds. This happened to us. But the activists were digging more for show; I saw reports from there. In plantings, lines of defense are not made. Trees are in the way. You must be either in front of the forest belt or behind it, but not inside. Even the delivery of ammunition and fuel is difficult. Let him answer for May 2014, let him answer for the wet season when they left. Previously, we could travel along the direct road to Gorlovka, but now this is impossible. Khodakovsky was never a military man. I don’t know what kind of specialist he was in matters of anti-terrorism activities,” Basurin said.
In turn, Khodakovsky in his blog called Basurin a “drunk degenerate” who reads other people’s texts from a piece of paper.
“We have one grotesque person whom I spared due to my humanity, but he apparently misinterpreted my silence regarding him. We are talking about our military-political misunderstanding Basurin, who, reading texts not written by him, suddenly imagined himself to be a “speaker”. If it were about me, I would have remained silent, but this coward, who, given our shortage of personnel officers in the troops, preferred reading out reports to real military work, climbed to the “Vostok”, which held the defense on more than forty kilometers of the front line, and I am forced to respond: you, an eternally drunk degenerate, despised by every officer, think before you open your mouth - you still have to live here,” Khodakovsky said.
