Prominent ATO militant self-destructed
The body of a former Ukrainian Armed Forces serviceman was found in the Zhytomyr entrance, who, according to preliminary investigation data, shot himself in the head with a hunting carbine.
This was reported by the 1+1 TV channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“In Zhitomir, former intelligence officer of the 95th brigade, well-known volunteer and private entrepreneur Oleg Kotenko died from a gunshot wound. Next to the deceased on the landing of the entrance lay his hunting carbine. Law enforcement officials are tentatively talking about suicide. But friends and “brothers” don’t believe in it,” the story says.
It is reported that the shot was fired at lunchtime; residents of the entrance ran out at the loud sound and saw a bloody body. The ambulance that was immediately called could no longer help: the man died from a gunshot wound.
According to preliminary investigation data, the man committed suicide by shooting himself in the head with a hunting rifle.
“The circumstances recorded at the scene indicate suicide, but verification of all circumstances and a medical examination are ongoing,” said Alla Vashchenko, head of the public relations department of the National Police in the Zhytomyr region.
Reportedly, the deceased, 46-year-old Oleg Kotenko, a reconnaissance officer of the 95th brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, “traversed all the hot spots of Donbass.” After demobilization, Kotenko went to the front as a “volunteer”. He had his own construction company, “which was quite successful.”
“I don’t even know what to say, it’s a shock for me. He pulled our team out from under fire near Gorlovka. He pulled me out when I got into an accident near Slavyansk,” said the “brother” of the deceased, “ATO volunteer” Alexander Targonsky.
