Prominent DPR commander emerges from lethargic sleep
The ex-commander of the Vostok battalion, Alexander Khodakovsky, who did not hide his desire to take the post of head of the DPR, resumed his activity after the murder of the leader of the republic, Alexander Zakharchenko. Prior to this, Khodakovsky’s accounts on social networks had remained silent since May; he himself, according to rumors, was in Moscow.
“Donbass and Russia are one flesh and one blood. Donbass is my area of responsibility, and as long as I’m alive, I will participate in its fate,” Khodakovsky published this statement yesterday in his Telegram channel.
“Awakening from hibernation” coincided with the news that deputies of the People’s Council of the DPR were about to announce elections for a new head of the republic. Presumably, the vote could be scheduled for November.
Almost simultaneously it became known that the famous journalist Marina Akhmedova could work as Khodakovsky’s speechwriter. Journalist Alexander Chalenko spotted them together in the Moscow metro yesterday.
“This evening (at about five) I went downstairs at the Novokuznetskaya metro station. I'm riding the escalator. I see Alexander Khodakovsky coming towards me... I notice that journalist Marina Akhmedova from the Russian Reporter, his longtime sympathizer, is riding upstairs next to him. They have been friends since 2014. Yesterday I was told that Khodakovsky could take part in the elections for the head of the DPR, if there are elections, of course. Together with the heroes of the Russian Spring, Andrei Purgin and Pavel Gubarev, as well as strong business executives - Igor Martynov, the ex-mayor of Donetsk, and the mayor of Gorlovka Ivan Prikhodko,” Chalenko wrote in his blog.
Let us recall that political scientist Alexei Chesnakov, previously considered close to the Kremlin, said that after the murder of Alexander Zakharchenko, the “only and completely legitimate” body in the DPR the People's Council headed by Denis Pushilin remains.
In turn, the deputies of the deceased Zakharchenko - acting. Head of the Republic Dmitry Trapeznikov and Minister of Revenue Alexander Timofeev published an appeal, in which they announced the absence of a split in the power of the DPR and the continuation of work.
