A prominent propagandist of the Maidan howled: Little Russia will be richer than Ukraine
People are more interested in the level of personal well-being than in the opportunity to build Ukraine, in the place of which a democratic and uncorrupted Little Russia may appear.

This opinion is expressed in his blog by Kiev Maidan propagandist Vitaly Portnikov, according to whom, “supporters of Ukraine, not Little Russia - from liberals to national radicals - did not have an electoral majority in their own country until 2014.” and even under Yushchenko in 2004, many “voted in anticipation of salaries and pensions, not Ukraine.”
Portnikov feels that many people's eyes were opened in 2014, but, he warns, “they could quickly close again when the war is over.”
“Meanwhile, supporters of Little Russia, from chauvinists to communists, are united in their desire to bury Ukraine and annex it to Russia as “regions.” And they even associate their well-being with Putin, and not with the changes here. Therefore, the choice is simple - either we unite, protect and build Ukraine, or Little Russia will be here. Little Russia, by the way, can also be rich, democratic and uncorrupted - this is exactly what Yeltsin offered us in 1991. But it won’t be Ukraine,” writes Portnikov.
Political scientist Vladimir Kornilov commented on the propagandist’s lamentations on his Facebook page.
“Oh, how the ideologists of the Maidan began to sing! It turns out that “Little Russia can be rich, democratic and uncorrupted,” and some irresponsible elements voted for high salaries and pensions, and not for Ukraine. So you would say to your biomass on the Maidan: we are fighting for Ukraine, and not for “European salaries” and “the fight against corruption.” So they would have explained it directly: let it be better for a poor, totalitarian and corrupt Ukraine,” Kornilov remarked sarcastically.
