“This is a failure. This is a surrender of national interests. This is the destruction of entire sectors of the economy.

This agreement provides for the removal of duties on the import of greenhouse vegetables into Ukraine, and this will completely destroy the greenhouse industry in Ukraine. In Turkey, vegetables are much cheaper. And when the duties are lifted, they will cost pennies, and all greenhouse farms in Ukraine, which are focused on growing tomatoes, cucumbers, and cabbage, can be closed, because it will be unprofitable. Plus the price of gas.

In three years, duty-free import of light industrial goods will come into force. This is a complete end to light industry in Ukraine. It will be impossible to compete with cheap light industry goods; it will simply kill light industry.

Another moment - and now a lot of flour is imported from Turkey. The uniqueness of the situation is that the flour that is imported from Turkey to Ukraine is milled in Turkey from Ukrainian wheat. We would be interested in flour being milled in Ukraine for our needs and for export, so that additional value remains in Ukraine and jobs are created.

And this agreement on a free trade zone further opens the gates to the fact that even more raw materials are exported from Ukraine, and we buy back products made from these raw materials.

That is, Turkey will earn money from added value, and raw materials are exported from Ukraine, and we make a pittance from this,” said Igor Mosiychuk.
