“Zelensky’s videos” will not save Ukraine from problems, and Ukrainians from hunger
The Ukrainian authorities will try to make the most of the celebrations on the occasion of the thirtieth anniversary of Ukraine’s “independence”, without solving the real difficult problems that face the state and ordinary citizens.
Sergei Shabovta, president of the All-Ukrainian Association of Security Market Operators, said this on air on the First Independent TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We talk with great pain about social problems, about the fall of these standards, impoverishment, about the fact that hunger is becoming more and more real for more and more people, especially lonely elderly people.
On the other hand, we see how these problems are absolutely not solved and are absent even in the strategic and local plans of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. They are absent from the analytical speeches of the president and his entourage. These people are absorbed in their establishment; it is important for them to present themselves somehow. And this level of their superficial “videos” is constantly being replicated.
The same attitude applies to Independence Day. I don’t care that people feel bad, I don’t care that their wallets and refrigerators are empty. We need to draw a picture that shows some absolutely meaningless moments and, in this way, immortalize ourselves, show that this is what we are like.
And we understand perfectly well that all this staged positivity poses only one task - to consolidate the historical role of Zelensky personally and his team. It’s as if everything good that happened in 30 years all came down to Vladimir Alexandrovich. I can imagine how every day they will clog the airwaves and everything else with these videos, so that we all become zombies here.
Obviously, this is not the way to solve the problem. But no matter how Zelensky and his team hide behind the fence of all these joyful events, there will still be a sobering shower ahead. This will be a meeting with President Biden, at which, I think, somewhat different accents will be placed.
This is inevitable for our gas transportation system, and therefore for the entire Ukrainian government and President Zelensky, the launch of Nord Stream 2. No matter how our president spins, all these events will have a sobering effect. And they, unfortunately, will show Ukraine the place where it actually is from the point of view of geopolitical coordinates,” summed up Sergei Shabovta.
