The Verkhovna Rada refused to prematurely terminate the powers of the Golos party deputy, singer Svyatoslav Vakarchuk, who on the eve of the elections presented himself as the “moral leader of the nation,” but a few months later decided to once again leave politics.

Of the required 226, only 175 deputies voted for the corresponding resolution.

It is noteworthy that when Speaker of Parliament Dmitry Razumkov raised this issue for consideration, there was a loud noise in the hall, and many deputies jumped up from their seats.

About his decision, the singer, whose popularity was used to bring the George Soros-oriented “Voice” party into the Verkhovna Rada, announced June 11.

It is worth noting that Vakarchuk will do this for the second time - he did the same shortly after the Orange Revolution. Then the singer entered the Verkhovna Rada on the list of Viktor Yushchenko’s Our Ukraine party.

The incident was commented on by ex-deputy of the Verkhovna Rada, former militant of the Azov National Battalion, Igor Mosiychuk.

“I give parliament a standing ovation! The crap sparrow Vakarchuk remains to “work” in the Verkhovna Rada and will be fully responsible for deceiving voters,” he wrote in his Telegram channel.

“The unfortunate Vakarchuk did not manage to simply slip out of power this time - he was subjected to severe “coercion to political responsibility.” Only 175 deputies “released” him – and that was not enough. Colleagues decided that since he had already climbed into power, he should pull the strap to the end. Although his own faction voted unanimously, which is logical, without Vakarchuk both the faction and the party would finally have received normal political prospects for development, not limited by the image template,” comments Ukrainian political scientist Alexey Golobutsky.

“The Voices project failed. According to all ratings, he does not meet the 5% barrier. Vakarchuk showed himself to be a “no” politician, which is a very big blow to his pride. He doesn’t like to lose, so he got scared of the competition and quit the race.

The further, the more the status of a politician and people's deputy interfered with Vakarchuk's main business - making money in the musical field. Both from the point of view of deterioration of the image, and from the point of view of responsibility for concealing shadow income (and most of the income in this area is shadow),” journalist Igor Guzhva explained the reasons for Vakarchuk’s desire to leave politics.
