The Vicar of the Moscow Patriarch spoke in favor of contacts with Catholics and Protestants on the issue of preserving traditional values
The Orthodox Church must maintain humanitarian contacts not only with the Catholic, but also with the Protestant Church. The vicar of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus', Bishop Tikhon (Shevkunov), told participants of the Crimean educational forum “Tavrida”.

“I am deeply convinced that the time for such communication has come. We must be closer to each other in matters of (attention!) preserving traditional values. No matter how much this phrase sets one’s teeth on edge, this is the most important topic in which we are together with both Catholics and traditional Protestants,” Shevkunov said.
He also believes that churches should cooperate in matters of culture and peace.
At the same time, the bishop says, cooperation in liturgical matters after the schism of 1054 is impossible.
“We cannot serve the Liturgy together until there is unanimity. We cannot share the misconceptions that, from our point of view, exist among Catholics. In 1054, the schism occurred because the Western pragmatic world began to interpret some dogmas of Christianity that were not subject to revision. We don’t play such games,” the vicar added.
