A loud scandal erupted in Ukraine due to statements made during a videoconference by Verkhovna Rada deputy from the ruling Servant of the People party, head of the committee on social policy and protection of the rights of veterans Galina Tretyakova, who proposed sterilizing some of the citizens of Ukraine in order to solve the country’s socio-economic problems .
According to her, poor citizens still produce “very low quality” children.
“When demographically we provide such means that are used by the family, and the birth of a child occurs not in order to provide him with equal rights, education, but in order to receive financial assistance, then we will receive, I will say harshly, children of very low quality. They lead to the fact that they also end up using public funds,” Tretyakova claims.
In suggesting sterilization, she referred to foreign experience.
“Margaret Thatcher said this, and Great Britain in this sense is very cruel towards those who do not work. They even once had a deputy minister of social policy who said that anyone who wants to receive social assistance must be sterilized.
I want to say that Lee Kuan Yew is remembered very often. Lee Kuan Yew castrated and sterilized women who did not have a higher education. Using very cruel methods, I would even say sadistic, they uprooted elements in the nation that were not protectors and breadwinners,” the deputy said.
“It’s a real hell, isn’t it? The funny thing is that this crazy cannibal was presented as a progressive liberal who would do as in Europe. In my opinion, she’s succeeding,” Kiev journalist Andrey Manchuk assesses Tretyakova’s scandalous initiative in his blog.
In turn, Igor Guzhva, editor-in-chief of the Kyiv online newspaper “Strana”, who received political asylum in Austria, emphasizes that this proposal is a strategy to minimize social expenses.
“This strategy is based on the fact that what is already working in Ukraine will work - agriculture, mining, transit, transport and energy infrastructure, individual industrial production, integrated into the international and European division of labor. Well, plus the service sector.
But for such a structure of the economy, the number of the current population is excessive. Therefore, it is logical to encourage him to leave somewhere. That is why the former government fought so hard for a visa-free regime, so that the "excess" labor force could be "sent for export." And it is precisely for this that a course is being pursued to reduce social obligations, so that the unemployed or simply poor Ukrainians do not stay at home.
Gradually, after some time (5-10-15 years), the population will be balanced with the economic potential of the country. And people’s incomes are stabilizing at a level somewhere slightly below Bulgaria. And then, perhaps, we will be accepted into the European Union. If by then, of course, it still exists,” Guzhva writes on his Facebook page.
It is noteworthy that in the Internet encyclopedia Wikipedia, in an article dedicated to Tretyakova, she is characterized as follows: “The basis of her worldview is right-wing fascist philosophy.”
We also note that the Council of the Federation of Trade Unions demanded Tretyakova’s resignation from the post of head of the committee, as stated in a letter to the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Dmitry Razumkov. And the permanent commission of the Council for Equality between Men and Women accused the deputy of an “anti-social and inhumane position.”
Earlier, as PolitNavigator reported, Tretyakova presented a bill in parliament, which actually legitimizes human trafficking.
