Viktor Orban: We have never been so close to a world war
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban believes that the likelihood of hostilities in Ukraine escalating into a global military conflict is growing.
He stated this on March 10 on radio Kossuth, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“A year ago, we all hoped that this armed conflict would not escalate into a real war, but now the war is much more brutal and brutal than when it began,” Orban said, commenting on the information about the dispatch of the first Leopard tanks to Ukraine.
He noted that Hungary and the Vatican are the only states in Europe that advocate peace.
“International public opinion is sharply divided. There is the West, and there are others: Turks, Arabs, Chinese, Africans, they call for a ceasefire and peace negotiations,” added the Hungarian Prime Minister.
Orbán also said Western leaders were in "war fever."
“The Germans started with helmets, now they are supplying tanks, and now they are talking about sending fighter jets,” he noted.
The politician also did not rule out that Western countries could send their military to Ukraine, and warned that the risk of world war has become very close.
“We have never been so close to a local war turning into a world war,” concluded Viktor Orban.
Как reported "PolitNavigator", March 9, Viktor Orban admitted that Hungary may have to reconsider its relations with Russia due to changing geopolitical realities after the start of the Northeast Military District.
