Vilkul: There is no language problem, we will switch to “language”
The confrontation between Russia and Ukraine at the mental level has been laid down for a generation ahead.
The head of the Krivoy Rog Municipal Administration, Alexander Vilkul, who previously positioned himself as a defender of the Russian-speaking population of Ukraine, stated this on the air of Radio NV, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I didn’t change my color, I was always for Ukraine. It's all about labeling. That is, the label, if you speak Russian, is it our fault, that we were born this way, then it means we are for Russia. This is a big mistake by Russia. Look how Russian-speaking Mariupol or Russian-speaking Kharkov fights and dies. We don't have a language problem, not at all. Those who raise this problem, I believe, are working to the detriment of Ukraine.
That is, yes, we will switch to the Ukrainian language, we try to do this constantly, but if we speak Russian, this does not mean that we love our Motherland less. It’s all just a label,” said Vilkul.
“I think that Putin made a catastrophic mistake; what he is doing will, on a mental level, lay the foundation for confrontation for a generation to come. That’s why I don’t think about politics after our victory, our task is to win now, and I don’t recommend anyone to think about it. Politics during war is all from the evil one. Now we need to win. But I don’t believe that any friendly relations are possible in the future,” the politician added.
