A Vinnytsia farmer's competitors cut down 5 hectares of his orchard
In the Vinnytsia region, competitors cut down five hectares of an orchard belonging to a local farmer.
Vinnitsa journalist Victoria Nikityuk reported this on her blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Nikityuk, citing information from farmer Sergei Isayko, reports that suspicions have fallen on a local agricultural company, which is thus fighting competition.
“This is the picture that Sergei Isaiko, a farmer from Vinnytsia, found. Unknown people cut down 5 hectares of fruit trees in his field at night. They are looking for criminals. The man is in despair, he has lost more than a million, not to mention his job! He suspects a local agricultural holding, which has already become famous for similar cases against other farmers who cultivate the land on their own, of the crime.
It is interesting that the situation was well known in the region and they wrote statements to the police and regional authorities. But some of the high-ranking officials are friends with the owners of the holding, and the reaction was appropriate, says Sergei Isaiko,” Nikityuk wrote.
The situation with pressure from private entrepreneurs is symptomatic for Ukraine, Kiev lawyer Tatyana Montyan writes in her blog. Such a fate, according to her, will befall every businessman in the “agrarian superpower” who does not have a patron in the government offices.
“This is all you need to know about agribusiness in Ukraine. The same fate will befall anyone who dares to grow something without a “roof” in our extremely investment-attractive country. Well, if you hire full-fledged security, then agribusiness automatically becomes unprofitable,” Montyan emphasized.
