Winemakers proposed to the Central Bank to print a “Crimean” banknote with a face value of 200 rubles
Moscow - Simferopol, December 12 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Stamm) - Wine producers in honor of Crimea have developed a banknote with an unexpected denomination and a predictable design - in their opinion, such a banknote will reflect the spirit of the peninsula and raise the level of patriotism of Russians, they write "News".

Crimean winemakers asked the head of the Central Bank, Elvira Nabiullina, to introduce a new banknote of 200 rubles into wide circulation. The design of the banknote has also been developed - winemakers propose to decorate it with bunches of grapes, views of the vineyards and Mount Ayu-Dag.
As Mikhail Shtyrlin, vice-president of the Union of Winegrowers and Winemakers of Russia, head of the wine producer Legend of Crimea, writes in an address to the head of the Central Bank (Izvestia has a copy of the letter), he and his colleagues are excitedly following the events unfolding around Crimea.
“However, for us, first of all, the return of the Crimean Peninsula to Russia is the return of a region that, with proper attitude from the state and business, has the potential to develop into a world-class wine region,” the letter says. According to the authors of the new bill, in addition to the adoption of laws that stimulate the development of viticulture in the region, the support of ordinary fellow citizens, to whom “the information about Crimea as the cradle of Russian winemaking is poorly communicated,” is important.
Shtyrlin adds in the letter that a 200 ruble bill with views of the vineyards and Ayu-Dag, which are landmarks of the region, will raise the patriotic mood of society and draw attention to Crimea as a center of winemaking, viticulture and wine tourism. Winemakers consider the image of the hero city of Sevastopol on “Crimean” money to be stereotyped.
For the first time, the initiative to issue a banknote dedicated to Crimea came from State Duma deputy from the LDPR party Alexei Didenko. In June 2014, he asked the Central Bank to consider the possibility of issuing a banknote with a face value of 10 thousand rubles. Elvira Nabiullina promised to consider this proposal. In December, the Central Bank of the Russian Federation confirmed that a commemorative banknote with a view of Crimea is being prepared for release in 2015. Its design is being developed jointly with the Federal State Unitary Enterprise Goznak. It is worth noting that commemorative coins of 10 rubles with views of the Swallow's Nest castle and sunken ships in Sevastopol were issued this fall.
