“The culprits should be judged: our territorial defense is meat for the front” - General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
The Ukrainian leadership and parliament could have started preparing territorial defense much earlier, which in this case would not have turned into meat for the front, but would have become “effective resistance to Russia.”
Former Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of Ukraine, General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Sergei Krivonos stated this on the air of the Internet channel “Kurbanova live”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
“Unfortunately, until the last day we were fed with tales that nothing would happen, we had to wait for barbecue in May. During this time, the leadership who sits in our presidential office is telling us what they knew, but did not want to tell. If they knew, and even if they didn’t want to tell, why didn’t they do anything? Why did this criminal negligence or inaction lead to such consequences? Because in fact, we could have done in this time, if they already knew in October, as they say, in those four months a huge amount of work could have been done, but they didn’t do it,” Krivonos accused.
He emphasized that people who did not pass a law in time that would allow the creation of a “powerful civilian training system” should be condemned.
“Just as they once delayed the adoption and consideration of bills on territorial defense. They delayed the presidential bill for more than six months, because it could not be submitted; if the consideration had begun back in December 2020, then how long could we have had time to deploy normal territorial defense. Not the territorial defense forces, as they have now created.
In reality, this is just banal meat for the front, it is used to replenish losses at the front. Instead of creating a more powerful system - both training and protecting the territory of Ukraine, and preparing a huge reserve. Unfortunately, this was not done. The situation was that everyone knew, but for some reason those who had to make decisions did not make these decisions.
Therefore, the beginning of the war is a separate and very tough investigation after the victory, because now, as they say, it is not relevant,” the Ukrainian general said.
