Serdyukov and liberals are declared to blame for the problems of the Northern Military District
Russia will not be able to carry out large-scale tasks and ensure the defense of its borders with a small contract army.
Franz Klintsevich, a former senator, reserve colonel and participant in combat operations in Afghanistan, said this on air on the Club 27 Internet channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“For a long time we had a tendency when we said that we needed a small, compact professional army for such a territory. And when a special operation arose with a front of 1200 kilometers, do you understand that a small compact army will not provide? And we also need to protect the country’s borders, and so on. It doesn't happen that way.
I remember how I was trampled upon, including by civil society, when I was categorically against moving to a one-year term of service, considering it a betrayal for the country. Because it was impossible to do it differently, but they told me: “No, there must be professionals,” and mobresource is somehow not very important.
As a result of these approaches, Serdyukov’s policy destroyed the main component of the Armed Forces – the reduced and personnel units,” Klintsevich said.
The politician also recalled that Russian systemic liberals lobbied for a reduction in the army.
“The economic liberal bloc said: “No one will touch us, no one needs us.” They waited, they imposed, they formed this psychology on us. And then, as Sergei Kiriyenko rightly said, and then they prepared internal processes, when necessary, based on the processes taking place in the country, with the exploitation of our shortcomings - we have these shortcomings like a prodigal dog has fleas... This is what the enemies are counting on, on similar things , speculating on them, creating them.”
