According to him, for now the Crimean prosecutor’s office in exile cannot consider the cases of Sevastopol “separatist deputies” because it does not have the authority.
“The city of Sevastopol is another administrative-territorial unit. It is formally supervised by the Prosecutor's Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. It had its own prosecutor's office. In Sevastopol we work only on the direct instructions or instructions of the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine in each specific case. Systematically, we can’t yet. This is the law.
I know that the State Police of Ukraine has criminal proceedings against those officials who were in their positions before the annexation, and they are dealing with these issues. We also sent our proposals regarding the creation of the Sevastopol prosecutor's office to the Prosecutor General's Office. It has been formally created. There is a position of prosecutor of the city of Sevastopol, but in fact not a single person has been convicted, premises have not been allocated, and state funds are not allocated for its maintenance.
Now a draft order of the Prosecutor General for the occupied territories is being prepared, and our proposals have already been taken into account that before the end of the annexation we will be given supervision responsibilities for Sevastopol as well,” Kholodnitsky said.
