Visa and Mastercard still serve Crimeans
Simferopol, December 27 (PolitNavigator, Evgeny Andreev) – Visa and Mastercard payment cards issued by branches of Russian banks in the Republic of Crimea could still be used on Saturday morning to pay for purchases on the Internet, reports Interfax.

Thus, the agency’s reporter paid for a purchase on the eBay online auction on Saturday morning from a seller located in China through PayPal using a Visa card issued at a Mastbank branch in Simferopol. The journalist received an email from PayPal confirming the successful transaction and an SMS from the bank about debiting funds from the account.
The journalist also paid for online courses from a training center located in the UK through the WorldPay service and received service confirmation of a successful transaction and an SMS from the bank about debiting funds from the account.
In addition, a resident of Simferopol told Interfax that on Saturday morning she successfully made purchases on the Internet using a Mastercard issued at the Krayinvestbank branch in Simferopol.
“The money is debited from the account, confirmations arrive, no problems,” she said.
As PolitNavigator reported, the day before the Visa and MasterCard payment systems notified Russian banks operating in Crimea of the need to suspend card transactions on the peninsula.
