Visa and MasterCard started working in Crimea
Customers of the international payment systems (IPS) Visa and MasterCard have the opportunity to use their cards in the territory of Crimea. As TASS reports, funds can be withdrawn through ATMs of the largest bank in the region, RNKB, which does not charge a commission for transactions with cards of third-party Russian banks.

This opportunity arose after the National Payment Card System (NSCP) became operational.
NSPK General Director Vladimir Komlev said at the end of March that after the launch of NSPK the problem with accepting Visa and MasterCard cards in Crimea will be solved. “If not April 1, then in some foreseeable future we will find how to make the situation in Crimea more understandable, so that there will be an improvement there in terms of accepting cards from international payment systems,” Komleva was quoted as saying Kommersant.
According to him, the NSPK has several options for getting out of this situation. True, he did not specify what specific options he was talking about.
“We expect that the acceptance of Ministry of Railways cards will be carried out through the NSPK,” the RNKB told the publication at the same time.
Meanwhile, today the Russian media reported a five-hour interruption in the work of the NSPK. “The problem is caused by suboptimal intersystem settings on the channel equipment of external connections located outside the NSPK perimeter,” noted RBC in the press service of the operator.
On April 28, the media reported that citizens with Crimean registration cannot make currency transfers through the SWIFT system due to the refusal of foreign banks. This also happens in cases where the money goes not through Crimean, but through Moscow banks.
