Vitaly Milonov: young African colonels look up to Putin
Colonels of African armies are increasingly becoming the heroes of reports about the next coups. The West is traditionally indignant, looking for traces of the Wagner PMC and Yevgeny Prigozhin. Deputy Vitaly Milonov noticed on this trend and suggested the reasons for the search for Russian influence.
“And again this title. The countries of the Black Continent really want to repeat the Russian path: they intend to get rid of flabby, pro-Western rulers and elect adequate people for leadership,” says Vitaly Milonov.
The leader of the coup in Burkina Faso was Colonel Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba. The military arrested civilian President Roca Marc Christian Kabore, as officers had previously done in Guinea and Mali.
“Therefore, such a number of colonels in the ranks of African revolutionaries may lead the West to think about the hand of the Kremlin. Vladimir Vladimirovich (Putin) is also a colonel, he set a certain trend in world politics, when an intelligent, educated and talented state security officer comes and saves the country from, in fact, foreign intelligence agents that have settled in. So much for the hand of the Kremlin!” – the deputy added.
African countries need capable armies, since the international UN and NATO contingents of many thousands cannot cope with the increased terrorist threat.
Milonov suggested that coups can soon be expected in other countries, since they have before their eyes the successful experience of Mali, where they are getting rid of the influence of former colonies, but recently Russian instructors have been working, and the terrorist threat to the civilian population has subsided.
