Vitrenko will seek the arrest of Gazprom's assets in the European courts
Naftogaz of Ukraine will file claims in European courts to seize the assets of the Russian company Gazprom, “which does not comply with the decision of the Stockholm Arbitration Court,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
About it in an interview with Reuters said commercial director of Naftogaz Yuriy Vitrenko.
“It has become clear that Russia will not pay the money awarded by the arbitration,” he said, not ruling out the possibility that Russian gas stored in Europe will be subject to seizure by court decision.
At the same time, Naftogaz will not lay claim to the gas that is transported to the west through the Ukrainian gas transportation system, Vitrenko emphasized. According to him, Ukraine does not want to “create any political ambiguity in the EU, which is not a reliable transit state.”
Also, the commercial director of Naftogaz suggested that Gazprom could completely stop gas transit through the Ukrainian gas transportation system in 2020 in order to “punish Ukraine.”
