Vitrenko: Donbass is not ours, let him pay for gas himself
Ukraine will not pay for gas supplied to the territory of the LPR and DPR.
Yuriy Vitrenko, executive director of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, as part of the agreements on gas transit through Ukraine, Gazprom waived its claims against Kyiv regarding gas supplies to the Donbass republics.
“The settlement agreement between Naftogaz and Gazprom includes any relations regarding the 2009 contracts. This is 2009-2019.
During this period, any supplies to any territory, in particular to territory that is not currently controlled by the Ukrainian authorities, are covered by these package agreements.
And it is clearly written in these agreements that Gazprom cannot demand anything for any supplies to any territories within the boundaries of this contract, and Naftogaz must not pay anything for it.
This issue is finally closed. That is, by the end of 2019, no one on the Ukrainian side is obliged to pay for any deliveries to the territories you are talking about,” Vitrenko snapped.
