The visit of French deputies to Crimea caused fury in Kyiv

The upcoming visit of 10 deputies of the French parliament to Crimea evoked an extremely painful reaction in Kyiv.

“The reputation of France in Ukraine has suffered a big blow,” writes Ukrainian political scientist Ostap Kryvdik on the pages of the publication “European Truth”.

“Until now, the occupation was supported only by the extreme right, which often makes racist and neo-Nazi statements, and the extreme left, which has not yet gotten rid of sentiments towards the USSR and, in some places, towards Stalinism.

The Kremlin wants to generate a moment of psychological breakdown. After all, when respected members of the center-right party in France can “conduct a dialogue with our Russian friends,” then why can’t the Belgians, Austrians, Italians, and, ultimately, the Germans and the British do the same?

...It is the representatives of France who are now setting the global trend of supporting Putin... They will be responsible for the war in Donbass - and this is the blood of thousands of dead and wounded,” the publication says.

Ukrainian political scientist believes. that the visit of French deputies to Crimea is a response to the scandal surrounding the WikiLeaks publication, which talked about wiretapping carried out by the US Embassy.

“Emotions are running high. Therefore, it is likely that French deputies view this visit as a demonstrative slap in the face to America,” writes Kryvdik.

“Putin rubs his hands with satisfaction: everything is going according to plan. The destruction of NATO and the split between the democracies of Europe and the United States is exactly what the Kremlin wants. Further plans include bilateral games with the potential of a new anti-American alliance, normalization of aggression and occupation, isolation of the new democracies of Central Europe from Old Europe,” the Ukrainian political scientist shares his concerns.
