Nuland's visit to Moscow could accelerate the hot phase of the conflict in Donbass
The more deeply isolated the Ukrainian government is in the international arena, the greater the danger that Kyiv will try to solve the Donbass problem with a full-scale war.
Political scientist Rostislav Ishchenko stated this on the YouTube channel “Sputnik in Russian,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The presenter asked whether the visit of US Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland to Moscow would affect the likelihood of a major Ukrainian military provocation in the Donbass.
“This has absolutely nothing to do with the agreements between Russia and the United States. These negotiations and agreements may create unnecessary nervousness in Ukraine and increase the danger of a radical solution. We were right in saying that a military conflict is Ukraine’s last argument, that is, it is a straw that a drowning man is trying to hold on to.
The worse the situation within the country, the deeper the international isolation of the Ukrainian government in the international arena, the higher the danger that Ukraine will try to solve the problem through a military conflict. According to the principle - everything is bad anyway, let's try again, we haven't tried that yet. And since a military conflict is always a lot of unpredictability, no one knows how neighbors and partners will react. They will remain silent, they will support someone, that is, what their reaction will be, so when there is no way out, then this becomes a way out,” the political scientist said.
“Therefore, the worse their situation, the higher the possibility of military conflict. That is, a provocation that will be aimed at starting an armed conflict. Moreover, for Russia to participate in this indirectly.
That is, so that she can be blamed differently than now - you know, there are Russian-terrorist troops there in the Donbass, that’s why we are at war with Russia. Why are they Russian-terrorist? Well, we decided so. Show us Russian troops? There are none, but we decided so. And this should be a conflict in which even if Russia did not declare war on Ukraine, Ukraine did not either, but when you can point your finger, here they are, Russian troops,” Ishchenko explained.
