Yalta, August 14 (Navigator, Mikhail Ryabov) - Vladimir Putin’s visit to Crimea, contrary to expectations, did not bring loud statements - moreover, today’s meeting with parliamentarians in Yalta was not broadcast live on federal television channels.
The situation in Donbass, meanwhile, remains difficult - the Ukrainian side continues shelling Lugansk and Donetsk, tightening the ring around the cities, the leader of the LPR Valery Bolotov resigned, and there is a humanitarian convoy on the border that refuses to let Kyiv through.
However, in Yalta, Putin only briefly mentioned the events in Ukraine, emphasizing that Moscow will try to take all measures to end the bloodshed as quickly as possible.
The military topic was also touched upon last night at a meeting of the Security Council, which took place at the headquarters of the Black Sea Fleet - it is only known that there, in particular, the situation around the peninsula was discussed. And today Putin announced that he approved the formation of a Defense Ministry group in Crimea. The Russian side does not intend to return the peninsula to Ukraine, the head of state clarified.
In Yalta, the president thought much more about the revival of the Crimean infrastructure, investments, economic development, etc. It seems that the visit to the peninsula, accompanied by a massive landing of deputies, set the primary goal of mobilizing the population before the September elections.
