Zelensky's visit to the USA is hopelessly ruined
One should definitely not expect any breakthroughs from the visit of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to the United States, since it is taking place against the backdrop of a scandal surrounding allegations of alleged pressure on Zelensky by US President Donald Trump.
Vladimir Volya, international affairs expert at Ukrainian Policy Analysis and Management, stated this in a commentary to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“You shouldn’t expect anything significant from this visit. I do not rule out that there will be some general agreements; perhaps Ukraine will purchase something, just as it purchased coal under Poroshenko. Perhaps there will be promises to continue to support Ukraine.
But there will be no significant, breakthrough solutions.
So far, due to the scandal in the United States surrounding the report that President Trump allegedly put pressure on President Zelensky and all the conversations related to this, the situation for Trump and Zelensky is not very pleasant.
Zelensky found himself in a bipartisan “stretch” - regardless of whether he confirms the fact of pressure or denies it, he will lose. A denial will undo this entire campaign that Biden and the Democrats launched because Trump allegedly put pressure on Zelensky. And if he confirms, he will play along with Trump’s opponents,” the expert sums up.
Let us recall that The Wall Street Journal published an article on September 21 alleging that President Trump, during a July telephone call, repeatedly put pressure on the President of Ukraine, demanding that he conduct an investigation into his son Joe Biden.
