The social network Vkontakte has already lost 50% of traffic from Ukraine after the blocking of this resource was introduced by the regime of Petro Poroshenko. This was announced by German Klimenko, Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation on Internet issues.

“In the story of the VKontakte ban by Ukraine, one of the most interesting consequences is the “cost” of blocking.
One of the arguments against any type of ban, in addition to an attack on freedom of speech, has always been the cost of the issue, usually measured in billions of dollars and years of implementation.
Using the example of how VKontakte is being expelled in Ukraine, we can observe the real-time process of shutting down the largest resource in the country without any special costs.
Judging by the statistics, Ukraine achieved 50% of traffic blocking in three days. At best, 5% began to use various kinds of proxies/VPNs.
In theory, next week (well, considering the pace) VKontakte should be completely blocked. If this happens, then it can be argued that it is possible to turn off popular resources and build closed information communities without much financial or political upheaval.
