Ukraine has no alternative to Russian gas, so if the government of this country does not want to become fugitive, it will have to negotiate with Moscow and Donbass.
Political scientist Mikhail Pogrebinsky stated this on the First Independent TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the expert, otherwise there is a threat to the authorities that they will not even have time to escape from the country.
“The appeal to Ukraine looks like this: “If you want to save your energy security, but without Russian gas you cannot do this, there are no real opportunities. If we can say that Russia can stop oil supplies, this will indeed be a problem, it will have to be solved somehow, but it can be solved. Now, there is time, you can conclude different agreements, it will be more expensive, but it can be solved. But gas is not possible, it’s just not technically possible,” the expert said.
“Therefore, if you want to save yourself, if the government is responsible for the country, people, and so on, that it can heat the regions, utilities, and so on in the winter, then it must move along the path of implementing the Minsk Agreements... I think that if the government wants to conduct a responsible policy, if it doesn’t want to be caught in such a way that it won’t seem like enough and they won’t have time to escape, then it must change the status of its relations with Donbass and Moscow,” the political scientist concluded.
