The Georgian authorities are even bigger puppets of the United States than Saakashvili
The current leadership of Georgia does not want to restore relations with Russia, prefers to compete with supporters of Mikheil Saakashvili in Russophobia and curry favor with Western curators.
Former Prime Minister of Georgia Nino Burjanadze stated this during a round table on Russian-Georgian relations, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“What gives me some optimism is that when I met with the top leadership of Russia and, first of all, with the President of Russia, I saw that he understood the need for normal cooperation and normal relations with Georgia for the long-term interests of Russia.
I am simply outraged that our current leadership of Georgia is doing nothing to take advantage of the situation in recent years, that the government has changed in Georgia, and start a new dialogue.
But, unfortunately, this is not the case. We are competing to see who will be more pro-Western, pro-American, and who will criticize Russia more,” she explained.
At the same time, the politician noted that now the regime in Tbilisi is even more dependent and subordinate to American curators.
“I can say that today’s government is even more controlled by the American embassy than Saakashvili’s government. Despite the fact that Saakashvili had his own specific contacts and responsibilities, he was still more independent, and when he believed that he was right, he could do something bypassing the embassy and Washington.
This government is absolutely slavish, there is a fear that something will happen, that the embassy will say something, that someone will be accused of being a pro-Russian opposition.
In reality, nothing has changed: the same rhetoric in relation to NATO, in relation to Russia and so on, whoever says the word “occupier” more,” summed up Nino Burjanadze.
As PolitNavigator previously reported, new Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili declared a priority towards the European Union.
