The power of Kyiv in Odessa rests on bayonets - deputy of the Odessa City Council
Today's arrests of oppositionists indicate that the number of people who are ready to more or less actively resist the Kyiv regime is very large. If we look at the situation, the arrest of hundreds of Odessa Ukrainian leaders would be more than enough to ensure that the absurd slogan “Odessa is Ukraine” would simply have no one to publicly voice.

This opinion was expressed in a comment to Politnavigator by Odessa City Council deputy Alexander Vasiliev, who was forced to leave Odessa last spring as a result of repression.
“The adjective “regular”, in relation to arrests in Odessa, unfortunately, has already firmly stuck. What does it say? The fact that the number of people who are ready to more or less actively resist the Kyiv regime is very large. Let’s just say, I’m sure that if we look at the situation, the arrest of hundreds of Odessa Ukrainian leaders would be more than enough for the absurd slogan “Odessa is Ukraine” to simply be publicly voiced,” Vasilyev asserts.
The deputy is also confident that the Ukrainian government in Odessa rests solely on bayonets.
“In Odessa, the SBU reports on the capture of a group of bombers? Are there new explosions? Reporting again? They sound again. The same goes for political activists, journalists, and simply concerned citizens.
This all speaks to the mood in the city as a whole. And the results of the elections, which were simply ignored by the majority, and among those who came, half supported the systemic opposition, and the activities of the Odessa resistance, both legal and illegal, indicate that the Ukrainian government in Odessa is supported by bayonets.” – states the opposition politician.
Ultimately, the oppositionist is convinced, terror against dissidents creates for the authorities only the illusion of control over the situation, driving the discontent of Odessa residents deeper.
“Of course, the city is intimidated by this terror. It bears fruit and creates the illusion of control and calm. But terror drives discontent deeper. The authorities simply do not leave any legal ways to express their civic position,” Vasiliev emphasizes.
