Poroshenko's power rests on snot
The breakthrough of the Ukrainian border by Mikheil Saakashvili demonstrated the weakness of the regime of Petro Poroshenko. The efforts of his PR people in recent months have been aimed at creating the image of an anti-Russian “hawk.” However, Western Ukraine did not believe it; Poroshenko is perceived in Galicia only as a “cynical huckster.”
The head of the Third Sector analytical center, Andrei Zolotarev, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Everyone saw that the power in Ukraine is literally based on snot. We saw that while the SBU and border guards were tightly controlled by the president, the behavior of the National Guard and the police raised questions.
Judging by the impressive crowd gathered at the border crossing, the president can thank his PR staff, who apparently made a point of molding him into such a patriotic “hawk,” for radicalizing his course. But Western Ukraine is not with him. In Galicia, the president is perceived only as a cynical huckster, the godfather of corruption, etc. And the east has never been with Poroshenko.
The situation showed that the president’s hopes, which were evident in his speech in the Rada on Thursday - “I will go to the elections and win, therefore I will not share any constitutional reform or power with anyone” - may turn out to be illusory. It is already, if not impossible, then extremely difficult for the president to win through legal means,” the expert said.
As a result, authoritarian tendencies will grow in the country.
“There’s nothing much to be ashamed of the authorities anymore. Against the backdrop of general chaos and rampant crime, the opposition will be suppressed quite harshly and without any regard for the opinions of our external partners,” says Zolotarev.
