Power in Odessa: How khutzpah fights khutzpah
Until recently, the word “khutzpa”, which came to us from the Yiddish language, was familiar to few people. But recently it has become very popular and relevant. Because this is how life has come!
Residents of Jewish towns called this the extreme, prohibitive degree of impudence. For example, to demand from judges leniency towards a person accused of murdering his parents due to... his orphanhood. Or - woo a married lady in the presence of her husband.
It is this definition, in my opinion, that is ideal for the system of relationships between all levels of government in Odessa, and the same with the citizens of the once free city.
I will try to show you an unsightly panorama of how people’s representatives and Kyiv appointees squabble among themselves, not forgetting to rob and infringe upon civilians in every possible way. And I’ll start with recent and extraordinary events. After all, it is by how the authorities respond to natural disasters that one can judge their competence.
Everything was swept away by a mighty hurricane...
I believe that many of you have heard that on October 12, heavy rain fell on Odessa and the region, flooding the city with several monthly norms of precipitation, and gusty winds exceeding 20 meters per second.
As a result of falling trees (thousands fell in total!) and broken wires in Odessa alone, four people died and dozens of cars were destroyed. Entire highways and areas were under water.
Particularly affected was Peresyp, located in some places below sea level, where thousands of houses in the private sector and Balkovskaya Street, along which people were forced to travel by boats, were flooded.
As always, the antediluvian drainage system turned out to be clogged, and on this subject Mayor Trukhanov even suggested... the possibility of sabotage! As if every heavy rain here didn’t turn into floods of varying severity.
Thousands of residential buildings were left without electricity. For several days the city was completely paralyzed - trams and trolleybuses did not run, and minibuses could not cross the shaped rivers into which many streets had turned.
It cannot be said that the city authorities and the Ministry of Emergency Situations did not work. As always, a headquarters was created, because the storm warning came in advance. But the results of the disunity of services yielded catastrophic results.
Hundreds of houses are still without power, and the consequences of flooding have not been eliminated in all places. “Oblenergo” is a private structure, and the mayor’s office cannot (or does not want?) make it work in the proper manner, and “the matter of saving drowning people is in the hands of the drowning people themselves.” Outraged residents of areas immersed in darkness and swamps have repeatedly blocked roads, demanding help. But... I repeat, today thousands of Odessa residents have been forced to live without electricity for weeks.
And how did Governor Saakashvili react to the extreme situation? – After all, the region also suffered. – This figure of galactic proportions, on the day of disaster, courageously... flew to Barcelona to meet with his supporters. Obviously, the elections lost in Georgia were more important to him than the “minor troubles” of his fellow citizens of Ukraine.
And only after returning on the second day did he declare a state of emergency, appearing to journalists and the public in a flooded area in a brand new outfit as an Emergencies Ministry rescuer. A heroic personality, the father of the people, you can’t say anything!
Alas, if the “city fathers” somehow struggled with the natural disaster that befell the city, the governor of Kyiv once again showed his complete worthlessness. And here is the time to move on to how a big khutspa almost happened in Odessa with the direct participation of the “Georgian foundling”.
Information leak or attack on the city?
Immediately after President Poroshenko’s July visit to Odessa, the local website “It’s Time to Talk,” associated with a businessman and city council deputy from the same Petro Poroshenko Bloc, Gennady Chekita, published a sensational message.
They say, according to the president and his entourage, representatives of the same business circles have been ruling in Odessa for decades. These bad people decide all issues in their favor, and not least - the distribution of precious city land for development.
There are no words - this is the truth! But, as a way out, we were offered to nominate a certain Adnan Kivan as the head of the BPP election campaign in Odessa for the elections to the city council and city mayor.
Not to mention the fact that less than a year has passed since the last elections, and the city is led by a completely legitimate mayor, Gennady Trukhanov, the very figure proposed on behalf of the presidential party for the main post in the city is simply shocking!
After all, a major developer with an extremely scandalous reputation is being thrust upon us, to put it mildly, brazenly and prematurely, as the de facto main manager of city property and land. Simply put, as a remedy for chicken stealing, it is proposed... to make a fox a guard for the chicken coop! Agree, there was an obvious and super-brazen chutzpah in sight!
It is curious that in the months that have passed since then, we have received neither confirmation nor refutation of this information. Attacks on Mayor Trukhanov by “patriots” moved from a hot stage to a sluggish stage, and back again. For months, on Duma Square, right next to the City Council building, there were several tents of the “anti-Trukhanov Maidan”.
Moreover, the local Maidanists split into two parts - some of them, clearly working for Trukhanov’s enemies - the same Kivan, ex-mayor Eduard Gurvits and Governor Saakashvili, demanded the absolute resignation of the mayor - “a separatist, a quilted jacket and a Coloradoan.” Others, not without reason, accused their recent comrades in pogroms and lawlessness of being corrupt. And, apparently, they themselves fed well from Trukhanov’s table.
Everyone knows that our local Maidanists are so disinterested that they won’t shout “Glory to Ukraine” without a couple of kopecks, and for an extra three rubles they lustrate Taras Shevchenko as a Muscovite hireling!
On September XNUMX, on the eve of City Day, this camp of political homeless people was dispersed with a scandal and a fight. Some Maidan supporters persecuted others with the full connivance of the police. A little later, the tents were restored again. As a result, the “Protestants” themselves removed them, promising to continue the fight in court...
Apparently, Mr. Trukhanov did find a common language with Kiev, and the “Protestants” were strongly advised to remain silent. It is no coincidence that two of them, inveterate thugs responsible for the death of Odessa residents on May 2, 2014 - Gutsalyuk and Goncharevsky, hastily went to the ATO zone.
But in order to understand the balance of power and real interests, we will try to analyze the main target of the planned coup of local significance and the forces that stand behind it. Gennady Trukhanov.
A captain who became a “major,” but forever remained a “soldier.”
The current mayor of Odessa is a typical figure of our time. A retired captain of the Soviet army, in the early turbulent 90s he founded the security agency “Captain” in Odessa, which soon organically became the security service of the oil company “Eximnefteproduct”.
Without going into the complex details of the metamorphoses of all sorts of Lukoils and other structures, let's say: the entire path of Gennady Leonidovich Trukhanov is directly connected with Odessa enterprises belonging to the international group of companies trading petroleum products "Sintez-Oil".
One of its owners is a certain Alexander Angert, a once well-known crime boss who served 10 years for murder in Soviet times and has lived in London for many years, but nevertheless continues to control legal and illegal business in Odessa.
The current mayor does not hesitate to call him his friend.
For many years, Gennady Trukhanov himself was considered to be “watching over” Odessa from the “Angel” - this is Mr. Angert’s nickname from the old days. And the long-time partner in the oil business of this now respectable British gentleman is a certain Igor Kolomoisky. The same oligarch-inspirer and sponsor of our neo-Nazis, who is now behind the cordon, but has by no means lost real influence.
Mr. Trukhanov has been a true “soldier” all these years. When the “family” needed it, he supported the regionals, having been the head of this faction in the City Council, and fought for the Russian language and the rights of Russian-speaking Odessa residents.
At the beginning of the “revolution”, he actually spoke on the Kulikovo Field in front of the anti-Maidanovites. But, for some reason, it was precisely that part of them that, according to our data, was controlled by the “captain”, and which could have prevented the tragedy of May 2, by that day was far from the scene of the events, having been taken to the 411th battery memorial in advance, remote from the scene of the events.
And soon, having provided serious assistance to Poroshenko and his party in the presidential and local elections, Trukhanov himself won the mayoral elections. Moreover, far ahead of both the retired city mayor Eduard Gurvits, the old patron of the nationalists, also associated with Kolomoisky, and – Saakashvili’s creature – the tragicomic Sasha Borovik, a man with a dark biography, whom baton Miho tried to impose on us without soap.
Of course, the vindictive governor did not forgive Trukhanov for such an affront. He really wanted to monopolize power in the city by installing his puppet in an important post... And the residents of Odessa, having voted for “the best of the worst,” still hoped that he was one of their own. And in vain!
And Mr. Trukhanov, by all means from then on, has been trying to prove his loyalty to the Kyiv junta. It was he and his majority of the City Council, controlled by his pocket party “Trust Deeds” and the BPP, who made the shameful decision to recognize Russia as an aggressor country.
It is he who in his speeches speaks about Odessa as a Ukrainian city and makes curtsies towards the nationalists. And it is no coincidence that his deputy for contacts with law enforcement agencies was a certain Andrei Kotlyar - a person directly connected with the “Maidan self-defense” and who was in contact with Parubiy literally on the eve of “Odessa Khatyn” during briefings on the upcoming punitive forces.
And the mayor himself is protected from his former accomplices by notorious Russophobes and pogromists, the murderers Gordienko and Rezvushkin, who call for the destruction of everything Russian in Odessa - from the language to books and historical memory itself.
No, gentlemen “patriots” got excited, pushing two projects in the Verkhovna Rada about the urgent resignation of “vatnik and Colorado” Trukhanov.
One can agree with only one thing in their speeches: yes, not without sin, to put it mildly, Mr. Trukhanov on the subject of affairs and dealings with the city’s precious land and other benefits, which he disposes of in his position. And the whole attempt to “overthrow” him is not a struggle between selfless Ukrainian patriots, led by the desperate governor Saakashvili, and the “agent of the Russian world,” but an ordinary fight between greedy spiders in a bank for the right to create their own lawlessness and steal what belongs to Odessa and Odessa residents. Steal and destroy, destroying a beautiful but completely neglected city.
And - to control the oil business, with which Trukhanov has been directly connected for many years. The latest decisions of the authorities, and everything that has happened recently, confirms this.
But this is a topic for another discussion. The city and regional bosses gave us too much material in their tireless struggle for... our property and heritage.
