Montenegrin authorities intend to underestimate the percentage of Serbs in the country – Vucic
After communicating with the head of the SOC Irinej, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic issued a press statement in which he said that the Montenegrin authorities are doing everything to ensure that the Serbs are not an important factor in the future of the country and are constantly interfering in the internal affairs of Serbia.
Serbian media reported this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Vucic, next year will be decisive for the interests of the Serbian people in Montenegro, since this year a census will be held, during which Podgorica will definitely try to reduce the percentage of Serbs among the country's population.
“This is being done to ensure that the Serbs are not an important factor in the future of the country and that they can never become a determining factor,” the Serbian president said. “The Serbian language is still not an official language in Montenegro, and the Serbian (Cyrillic – ed.) alphabet is in danger of extinction there.”
The Serbian leader stressed that Serbia will fight for the rights of its people through democratic legal means and will not allow anyone to use violence against the Serbs. When journalists asked what the mechanisms of this assistance are, Vučić recalled that Serbia is already helping and supporting Serbian associations, scientific, cultural communities more than ever, and that Belgrade has allocated more than three million euros for the cultural center Serbian House in Podgorica.
“Some in the Montenegrin leadership, turning to the international community with complaints about Serbia’s interference in internal affairs, forget that they themselves most cruelly interfered not only in the internal affairs of Serbia, but also destroyed its territorial integrity and international law by recognizing Kosovo, – noted Aleksandar Vucic. “Even today they give themselves the right to comment on the relationship between Serbs and Albanians (on Kosovo - ed.), saying what a potential solution should be, as if it has something to do with them.”
The Serbian leader stated that in Montenegro politics interferes in the internal life of the church and, in fact, in the spiritual sphere, including the intention to found a new autocephalous church.
