Chisinau, September 03 (PolitNavigator, Petr Alekseev) – The authorities of Gagauzia do not rule out that Chisinau is preparing to abolish Moldova’s military neutrality status. The deputy bashkan (head) of the Gagauz autonomy within the Republic of Moldova, Valeriy Yanioglo, stated this to Nezavsimiya Gazeta.

According to him, Gagauzia is alarmed that “with the connivance of official Chisinau, interaction with NATO and the United States is being intensified.”
“Moldova is a neutral country and should continue to remain a non-aligned state. However, given the actions and sentiments of the Moldovan authorities, the country’s abandonment of neutrality cannot be ruled out. The Gagauz people are against this,” Yanioglo emphasized, as quoted by Moldnews.
Earlier, the President of the Republic of Moldova, Nicolae Timofti, demanded that new tasks be formulated for the National Army, taking into account the events in Ukraine.
