Crimean authorities explained why the bridge was opened, but prices do not fall
Prices for goods in Crimea did not fall after the opening of the bridge across the Kerch Strait - we need to wait for the completion of the railway part and increased competition among suppliers; the authorities now do not have a tool to reduce prices.
The head of Crimea, Sergei Aksenov, stated this on live television, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The private owner has the right to sell his goods at any price. Taking into account the fact that large companies are not yet entering Crimea due to sanctions, there is a speculative aspect. Most of those who sell us goods at inflated prices are our own Crimeans. Until state regulation appears, the authorities will not have an effective tool in this area,” the official said.
Aksenov expressed hope that prices will begin to decline after deliveries across the railway part of the bridge begin - the laws of the market will work.
“Unfortunately, even after the opening of the road part of the Crimean Bridge, it is not yet possible to reduce prices... When will the big players enter Crimea? I hope after the opening of the railway part of the Crimean Bridge,” said the head of the republic.
