The Crimean authorities remembered the bacchanalia on the protected Ai-Petri plateau, where in Ukrainian times, in circumvention of the law, a whole town of cafes and hotels appeared (mainly controlled by the Mejlis). Officials promise inspections; the demolition of the shalmans remains a distant prospect.
Today at a government meeting, the head of Crimea Sergei Aksenov promised to create a special group to check the situation on the plateau.

According to him, it is necessary, together with the prosecutor’s office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the FSB and the tax service, to organize a working group that will go to the site and present a working report based on the results of the trip. “On Ai-Petri, all environmental protection standards must be urgently observed. It is necessary to equip the territory with electricity and dry closets. Then we will decide on further actions,” Aksenov said.
“An inspector has never set foot there. All runoff from the top of the mountain range through karst cavities goes directly to Yalta. There are no permits for the activities carried out, therefore no one pays taxes. This is an absolutely glaring fact; this issue needs to be addressed urgently. In connection with the current situation, there is a serious danger of mass diseases,” Chairman of the Public Chamber of Crimea Grigory Ioffe described the current state of affairs at Ai-Petri.
