This was stated by the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Moldova Vasily Bumakov on the air of one of the Moldovan TV channels. During the program, a representative of Moldovan farmers said that she tried to start supplying products to Romania, but customs officials said that import duties had not yet been canceled.
According to her, farmers have contacted the Ministry of Economy, but have not yet received a response.
Bumacov responded by saying that the signing of an association and free trade agreement with the EU is an achievement of the Moldovan government, and the bureaucracy is to blame for the fact that the document has not even partially entered into force.
“Bureaucracy is everywhere. We decided that there would be no duties from September 1, but the document from Brussels was late. Brussels decides. We were all waiting for September 1, we thought that we would exhale, but it hasn’t happened yet,” the minister said, as quoted by the portal alfanews.md.
Previously, it was promised that the European Union would open its market in a free trade regime for the import of Moldovan fruits and vegetables from September 1 in response to restrictions imposed by Russia.
