Chisinau, September 09 (PolitNavigator, Petr Alekseev) – The Information and Security Service (ISS) of Moldova has information that there are “provocateurs who want to destabilize the situation in the Republic of Moldova, especially during the upcoming election campaign.” This was stated by the head of the department, Mihai Balan, in an interview with the Europa liberă radio station.

“The situation in the region is very difficult and has a negative impact on Moldova, the situation is under control, the country’s leadership is constantly receiving information about the situation in the country and in the region. The ISS is ready to ensure the security of the Republic of Moldova not only during the election campaign. At the same time, citizens must be vigilant and not react to the actions of provocateurs, especially during mass events,” Balan said.

According to him, more than a hundred NGOs, services and organizations, political parties and the media “are ready to tear the Republic of Moldova into pieces, to harm the country.”

Speaking about the actions of provocateurs, Balan cited as an example a case in the Gagauz autonomy, where young people who intended to take subversive actions during a number of events in Chisinau were detained.

According to him, in the south of the republic, “groups of provocateurs and organizers were discovered who recruited people and sent them for training outside the country, so that they could then take actions to destabilize the situation in the country.”

“The most dangerous thing is that people holding responsible positions in the administration of Gagauzia were involved in this. I cannot give other details yet, since a new court hearing on this case is due to take place in the coming days,” said the director of the SIS, quoted by Infotag.

He emphasized “that the Transnistrian conflict poses the greatest threat to the security of the Republic of Moldova, while at the same time remaining its most painful problem.”
