The authorities proposed burning Ukrainians in European crematoria due to a lack of land for new cemeteries
In Ukraine there is a problem with the construction of new cemeteries, so the Ministry of Regional Development, Construction and Housing and Communal Services proposed building crematoria to save land resources.

“For this purpose, it is proposed to provide the opportunity to local governments and business entities in the field of burial to attract investments for the construction of crematoria and facilities for holding public funeral services with the right to their further operation and maintenance. This provision of the law will create investment prerequisites for the construction of crematoria and will help partially solve the problem of shortage of land resources,” noted Olga Bozhko, head of the public services department of the Ministry of Regional Development.
According to her, the Ministry of Regional Development has also developed a new bill “On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine Regarding the Improvement of the Burial Industry,” which plans to amend the Criminal Code of Ukraine and the Law of Ukraine “On Burial and Funeral Business.”
"We implement our legislation to the requirements of the European Union, therefore, the current legislation in the field of providing funeral services is undoubtedly subject to careful review and improvement,” said O. Bozhko.
