The Transnistrian authorities took a harsh approach to Dodon’s chatter

Statements by Moldovan President Igor Dodon about the supposed existence of some kind of plan to resolve the Transnistria problem are a bluff that is not taken seriously either in Russia or in the United States. The opportunity for the coexistence of the PMR and the RM in a single state has already been missed; Dodon needs to be a realist.

President of the PMR Vadim Krasnoselsky stated this on the air of “First Pridnestrovsky”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.

“I tried to find those who are this “package” (Dodon’s proposals for Transnistria, - ed.) supported. I didn't find them in Moscow. That is, no matter who I communicated with in Moscow, with officials, the meetings were public. When I asked about their attitude towards the package, everyone smiled modestly, remained silent, or said: “Don’t pay attention.” That is, everyone understands the frivolity of this approach, this package.

I tried to find out the same issue with Western politicians and the US Ambassador, how this issue was with them, whether it was agreed upon, whether they supported this package - the reaction was approximately the same.

It looks like some kind of initiative by Igor Nikolaevich Dodon with an attempt to pass off wishful thinking as reality. Some fantasies. I, of course, read this package long before it was made public. Well, it’s funny,” Krasnoselsky said.

He recalled that in the 30 years after the collapse of the USSR, entire generations of people grew up in Transnistria and Moldova who had never lived in a single state for a day.

“We have been living separately for almost 30 years. There are both historical aspects of our independence and practical aspects, and they simply cannot be ignored, it is stupid.

Transnistria appeared as a result of the collapse of the Soviet Union, this is a fact. There was such a parade of sovereignties. At first, the Baltic republics declared independence, Moldova, Georgia and so on. In pursuit of this independence, many Supreme Councils and parliaments began to make appropriate decisions.

So is Moldova. On June 23, 1990, it adopted two well-known declarations. The first two declarations they declared secession from the USSR and the supremacy of the laws of Moldova over the laws of the Soviet Union, they used the principle of the UN Charter, which gives the right of peoples to self-determination. Well, of course, this is a general pursuit of independence.

However, the second declaration that was adopted, and this declaration gave us our independence - with this declaration, Moldova legally renounced the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. According to the second declaration, based on the recognition of the nullity of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, the Parliament of Moldova declared the illegality of the creation of the Moldavian SSR.

Let me remind you that the Moldavian SSR was created in 1940 after the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact and Stalin’s decision, according to which Bessarabia was annexed to the MASSR. Today's Moldova to today's Transnistria. If parliament recognized this deal as insignificant and invalid, then, naturally, the parties roll back to the level of the 40s. That is, legally Moldova abandoned us.

I am more than confident that any independent, international court will clearly recognize our independence. This is the basis of our independence,” Krasnoselsky said.

Today, according to him, any option of reunification with Moldova is not attractive for the PMR.

“Pridnestrovian politicians and the Pridnestrovian people still tried to find forms of cohabitation. It was we who proposed the formulas for a confederation, a federal structure, it was we who agreed to sign the so-called “Kozak plan”, where the federal structure of the Republic of Moldova was built and Pridnestrovie was included. But the Moldovan side has always refused this process. In addition, in 2003, a joint Constitutional Commission worked to develop unified legislation. Mr. Voronin destroyed this mechanism. That is, we were always forced to be independent.

After Moldova withdrew from the negotiation process after the work of this commission was destroyed, then a referendum was held in 2006, where the people unanimously voted for the independence of the PMR with further rapprochement and inclusion in the Russian Federation. But the most important thing is independence. Over 30 years, generations have grown up who have never lived a day in a single state,” said the President of Pridnestrovie.

Let us recall that Moldovan President Dodon called on Transnistria to forget about independence or reunification with Russia.

“Moldova has no future without Pridnestrovie. And Transnistria has no future. When someone says from the left bank that “we were not together...” - you and the Ukrainians were together, so do you want to go to Ukraine? You need to choose, our dear Pridnestrovians. There will never be independence. There will be no status of a subject of the Russian Federation. But we will find a form for unification within a single state – a federal one. Let’s sit down and discuss this,” Dodon said.

Moreover, Dodon spoke in support of the blockade of the PMR, declaring a common vision with the pro-Western parties of the Republic of Moldova for solving the problem of Transnistria.
