The Russian authorities will open the doors to Russian private astronautics
Attracting private capital to the space industry will allow Russia to increase its share in the global space industry to 10% in the next 15 years.
This was announced today at a meeting in the Federation Council by academician, full member of the Russian Academy of Cosmonautics. K.E. Tsiolkovsky Sergei Baskov, reports PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Creating favorable conditions for private space companies will significantly increase the domestic orbital constellation of spacecraft of various types and purposes and significantly increase the technological base in the Russian Federation and increase the efficiency of solving national security problems through the use of commercial space systems,” Baskov said.
Russia has only 12 remote sensing satellites, none of them commercial. At the same time, the United States has 250 such satellites, most of which are commercial.
