“In fact, everything that was built in Sevastopol in the 90s was built on the initiative of the city of Moscow, the mayor of Moscow Yuri Mikhailovich Luzhkov, in relation to whom, unfortunately, in Sevastopol they cannot decide whether he can be awarded the title of honorary citizen of the city or not.

They led themselves into a dead end by prohibiting the conferring of honorary citizenship on those who had already passed away, which is curious. In some cities, on the contrary, they prohibit those who are alive from conferring honorary citizenship, because it is necessary to evaluate the consequences of this or that act of this or that life, but here it is the other way around.

Well, this is your business, of course, in Sevastopol. But it was precisely in those days, you remember, that these Sevastopol Luzhniki stadiums were built. And only then, under the impression of this challenge to Kuchma, on Omega they built this large house for officers, for the personnel of the Ukrainian Navy, because it was completely stuck,” Zatulin recalled.

Previously deputies proposed to hold a referendum, to deprive ex-President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma of the title “Honorary Citizen of Sevastopol.”

Journalist Alexander Chalenko, forced to leave Kyiv, stated that Kuchma’s retention of such a title is shameful, since the politician approves of the punitive operation against the Russians of Donbass and was the initiator of the defeat of the Russian Republic of Crimea in the 1990s.

“1) He is opposed to the annexation of Sevastopol and Crimea to Russia;

2) He supports the ATO, that is, he actually approves of the murder of civilians of Donbass and militias who defend this holy Russian land from neo-Bandera;

3) He is a traitor to the Russian world. Let me remind you that it was thanks to his promises to give the Russian language the status of a state language that he became the president of Ukraine in 1994. But he did nothing to ensure that the 1996 Constitution proclaimed real bilingualism;

4) It was thanks to him that in 1994 Crimea was actually deprived of its autonomy.

5) First of all, he bears the blame for the death of Georgy Gongadze. Yes, Gongadze was anti-Russian, but this does not mean that his murder can be approved. Moreover, they killed him not for anti-Russian activities, but because he simply irritated Kuchma.

6) It was thanks to Kuchma’s cowardice and his collusion with the West that the first Maidan was able to win,” Chalenko listed.
