The authorities of Sevastopol believe that the reason for the rise in gasoline prices is a conspiracy among gas station owners.
Sevastopol, April 15 (Navigator, Egor Kagorov) – The Federal Antimonopoly Service will deal with Sevastopol oil traders. Specialists from Krasnodar and Rostov-on-Don will begin work in the region on Tuesday.
The acting head of the city administration, Dmitry Belik, announced this during a briefing.

According to the official, leading oil traders operating in Sevastopol promised two weeks ago that they would reduce gasoline prices as soon as “old stocks” (that is, fuel purchased at Ukrainian prices) ran out. Moreover, then it was said that this was a matter of several days.
However, the waiting period dragged on, and the cost of gasoline not only did not decrease to Russian levels (on average less than 9 hryvnia per liter), but on the contrary increased. At some Sevastopol gas stations, motorists will have to pay about 14 hryvnia per liter of fuel.
And about. The head of the city's executive power said that the administration of Sevastopol does not intend to put up with such arbitrariness.
“In our opinion, there is a monopolistic conspiracy of operators in the petroleum products market. I believe that, taking advantage of the situation, gas stations and their owners are trying to obtain excess profits, clearly overestimating the rate of profitability at which these enterprises can exist. That’s why we turned to FAS (Federal Antimonopoly Service) specialists from Rostov and Krasnodar for help,” Belik said.
In turn, the head of the economic block of Sevastopol, Elimdar Akhtemov, reported that at the moment Russian gasoline is supplied to the city in insufficient quantities. The main reason is the poor performance of the transport system.
“Crimea’s logistics cannot cope with large supplies, in particular through the Kerch crossing. There is an option that will stabilize the situation. On the territory of Sevastopol there is a port enterprise “Yugtorsan”, which theoretically can receive a significantly larger amount of light oil products. It is necessary to resolve the issue of delivering light oil products by tankers from the territory of the Russian Federation,” Akhtemov concluded.
