According to "Center for Investigative Journalism", The Committee for the Protection of the Rights of the Crimean Tatar People is preparing a statement due to the refusal of the Simferopol administration to authorize the action.
According to Committee coordinator Eskender Bariev, the Committee initially notified the administration of its intention to hold a human rights conference in the city, which was denied. In response, the committee announced its intention to hold a picket, but even here it was refused. Bakharev was informed that from December 1 to January 7, events dedicated to the celebration of the New Year and the Nativity of Christ will be held in the center of Simferopol; in addition, the picket may impede the passage of transport and citizens’ access to city infrastructure.

Bariev received the final answer from the administration only the day before at 21.00.
“There is no clear and specific answer. They wrote to us that in response to the notification, although we wrote a response to their letter, that it was submitted late and was not subject to consideration,” said the Committee coordinator.
