The Ukrainian authorities could not explain why it is possible to buy fuel from Russia, but not a vaccine
Ukrainian government officials today at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada could not explain why it is possible to buy fuel from Russia, but not a vaccine against coronavirus.
“As for the Sputnik-V vaccine. I see that the European media are reporting that Hungary, Slovakia, Portugal will now be there, the European regulator is also conducting tests to vaccinate 50 million citizens starting in the summer. When will we produce and vaccinate with Sputnik-V?” – Deputy Alexander Koltunovich asked the head of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine Maxim Stepanov.
“I have already said several times that under no circumstances will Sputnik-V, a Russian vaccine, be registered on the territory of the country. This is the first. As for registration in other countries, I have already said that the Russian Federation did not take territory from other countries and did not start a war. And you won’t convince me to register this vaccine with any argument,” Stepanov answered with irritation.
However, Koltunovich was not satisfied with this answer, and the deputy turned directly to the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Your minister just spoke from the podium, unwittingly putting the entire Cabinet of Ministers on edge. Apparently he doesn't know that last year we purchased $4 billion worth of goods from our northern neighbor. And this includes one hundred percent of glass imports, electricity and petroleum products, and so on. Why does the government put the value of human life lower than its own energy interests, for example?” – asked the deputy.
“Regarding the Sputnik-V vaccine, I support the minister’s answer, I completely agree with him and have nothing to add,” Shmygal snapped.
Let us remind you that earlier the US Embassy prohibited the Ukrainian authorities from allowing vaccination with Russian drugs.
