According to him, the influx of Ukrainian tourists to Crimea destroys Ukrainian stereotypes about “mass repression” in the republic, so Ukraine has come up with a way to limit the flow of tourists.

“The fact is that official carriers do not go to Crimea - they are not given permission, but illegal immigrants go. Kherson tax officials came to Genichesk, to Chongar, where the blockade activists and Islamists were. They provided them with lists of so-called illegal taxi drivers. But according to Ukrainian laws, it is problematic to fine someone due to the fact that it is necessary for the passenger to give evidence. And taxi drivers instruct passengers that in the event of such a stop, they must tell some kind of story about the fact that they all know each other, and the driver just gave them a lift, no one gave him money. Because of this, it is problematic to present any claims to them. Therefore, now passengers will also be made into conspirators.

So, in these cases, the accusers were the participants in the blockade. They slandered the drivers that they were the ones they drove with and gave them money. But in court, the taxi drivers’ lawyers did not miss such options, made inquiries about the border and received answers that these blockade runners did not cross the border, and these protocols were called invalid. At the government level, they now want to make changes to the rules on illegal carriers, the punishment of which could be confiscation of a car if it is proven that they are engaged in illegal transportation,” said Sivak.

Earlier, this information was partially confirmed by the head of the State Transport Safety Service, Mikhail Nonyak: “Small minibuses with up to eight seats, which are not licensed by the service, go to Crimea. “We know that such facts exist. Together with border guards and the Security Service of Ukraine, we conduct raids at checkpoints in the Kherson region. We work through these so-called “carriers”.
