“Nobody is saying that we will fire miners, we are saying that we need to optimize the administrative staff. The conversation about closure is very balanced. Moreover, this process is coordinated. Only unpromising mines will be closed. At the moment we are talking about three of the 35 mines,” he said.
“According to the Ministry’s program, it is planned to close and mothball 11 mines by the end of the year. 10 thousand miners will end up on the street,” protested the head of the Confederation of Free Trade Unions, Mikhail Volynets.
“Indeed, in the program that we have prepared, we are talking about the fact that 11 mines are unpromising. But when to close them is a matter of analysis. I’m not saying that they should be closed by the end of the year,” Demchishin denied the accusations.
